Empoli's Mirko Valdifiori is the object of a tussle between Milan and Napoli, say reports, with the latter believed to have a deal.

The Rossoneri have been increasingly suggested as after the 28-year-old, and Empoli President Fabrizio Corsi corroborated recent stories in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport published today.

“I think it's true, or else how could you account for all this hustle?” he said.

“They want Valdifiori for certain, and [Coach Maurizio] Sarri almost certainly.

“But I'd rather think of the present, we must not create too much confusion around the lads.”

However, Napoli may get in the way of il Diavolo, as La Gazzetta relates of a deal already established between President Aurelio De Laurentiis and Corsi to sign Valdifiori.

The Partenopei's interest was reported several days ago and may now be coming to the closing stages, but Corsi is said to have asked for more time in order to avoid destabilising his team.
