Milan will not be signing Marouane Fellaini as the midfielder has signed a new contract with Manchester United.

Milan had been heavily linked with a free transfer for Fellaini, whose contract was due to expire on June 30.

However, a statement on United’s official website confirmed the Belgian had penned an extension until 2020, with the option for a further year.

“I am very happy Marouane is staying with us,” said his manager and former Inter boss Jose Mourinho. 

“I always believed in his desire to stay with the club and I am delighted that he has signed a new contract.”

The 30-year-old joined the Red Devils from Everton in 2013 and has gone on to make 156 appearances at Old Trafford, scoring 20 goals.
