Milan look to have missed out on Julian Brandt after the winger signed a new contract with Bayer Leverkusen.

Brandt had emerged as a target for Milan in the summer, with Calciomercato.com explaining sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli had scouted him during Germany’s 1-0 defeat to Brazil last week, while the Rossoneri were hoping to exploit their ‘good relations’ with Leverkusen, who sold them Hakan Calhanoglu last summer.

However, a statement on the Bundesliga side’s official website confirms the 21-year-old has extended his contract with the club until 2021.

Brandt has scored nine goals in 32 appearances for Bayer this season and also has 14 caps for his country.
