Milan are being linked with a move for Zenit St Petersburg’s Axel Witsel by the Italian media.

The 25-year-old central midfielder has played 54 times for the Belgian national team, and moved to Russia in 2012.

Despite Zenit paying €40m to bring the former Benfica player to St Petersburg just three years ago, SportMediaset reports that Milan are considering a bid for the player.

Despite Zenit paying €40m to bring the former Benfica player to St Petersburg just three years ago, SportMediaset reports that Milan are considering a bid for the player.

The news outlet believes that Witsel would be very keen on a move to Serie A, and Milan will offer €3m for an initial loan, with €17m to be paid in the summer.

Mediaset states that a third party is currently in negotiations with the Russian club to persuade them to take a €20m hit on the midfielder.
