Milan officials met with the agent of River Plate ace Erik Lamela, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

After chasing Santos player Ganso for months, it is being suggested that the new Italian champions may be switching their attention to the Argentine instead.

The pink paper claims that Rossoneri director Ariedo Braida met with Lamela's representative Marcelo Simonian on Wednesday.

It's understood that Milan, who had a €12m bid rejected for him six months ago, will make a fresh offer for the 19-year-old talent.

The attacking midfielder is also liked by both Rome-based clubs, with Lazio in particular very keen.

Lamela holds a Spanish passport which does make him an attractive target as he would not need to be registered as a non-EU player.
