The 24-year-old has three goals in 15 League games, and despite four goals in five Champions League games, has been heavily criticised by German media.

Newspaper Bild has decried the striker as slow, technically limited and unable to beat his man. According to Calciomercato, that could lead Immobile to seek a return to Serie A this summer.

The website believes that Milan would be the most likely destination, with Giampaolo Pazzini set to depart San Siro when his contract expires at the end of the season.

The Rossoneri have only just signed Mattia Destro, but would have to pay €16m to make the move permanent in the summer.

Calciomercato believes that is a prohibitive figure for the Diavolo, and they could turn to Immobile instead should he be available on the cheap.
