While it was previously believed that the Italians would have no option to buy, today's edition of the Gazzetta dello Sport reveals that the agreement between the two clubs involves several mutual concessions.

It's confirmed that Chelsea have the right to take the player back should they choose. However, if they do decide to sell, Milan will be given a notice period during which time they may match any competing offers, with a right to preferential treatment.

Milan are also expected to pay an amount of cash on top of the €1m that will vary according to how often Pasalic plays. The more he is fielded and given time, the less the Italians will have to pay the Blues.

Before any deal can be completed, however, the player must undergo an in-depth medical in Italy.

Pasalic has been suffering from back-pain since the end of February, and the Rossoneri have called in a specialist to make sure that he is in a condition to play. If they are not satisfied that the player is 100 per cent fit, the deal will fall through.
