Milan chief Adriano Galliani has cooled expectations that the Rossoneri will sign Mario Balotelli next summer.

The Italian giants are being paired with the Manchester City ace with some regularity given that the striker is a Milan fan who wants to play alongside Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Although Galliani admits that he would love the player to arrive, he's keen for supporters to remain realistic.

"He is a dream for the fans and perhaps I am getting carried away too, but Balotelli is a Manchester City player," the Vice-President said on Friday.

"We need to bring a stop to these rumours about his possible transfer otherwise it will raise false hopes amongst the tifosi.

"Balotelli only joined City a few months ago and I can exclude the possibility that they will sell him."

The Italian international signed for the Premiership side during the summer after he ended his problematic stint with Inter.

While Galliani dismissed talk of Balotelli, he did admit that his club were hoping to profit from the January transfer window.

"We are looking for an attacker, but we know that Pippo Inzaghi can't really be replaced," he added.

Inzaghi, 37, is out for the season after he was forced to have knee surgery last month.
