Milan director Umberto Gandini seems satisfied with being drawn against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.

Having come second in their group, the Diavolo risked being paired with a real giant of the European game in the last 16.

“Atletico are a very strong side who play great football under Diego Simeone,” Gandini commented on Monday.

“They are very strong in attack, but it could be even worse for us considering the sides we could have picked.

“We will have to see how both sides will be in two months. We have had several injuries in the first part of the season, hopefully we will have a fully fit squad in February.”

Atletico Madrid director Clemente Villaverde noted: “This isn't just any other team – it’s Milan and they have an incredible history.

“We respect every team here, but we also have potential and will use our strengths.”
