Milan have moved quickly to deny reports that they are planning a summer swoop for Javier Pastore of Palermo.

Stories in the peninsula this morning suggested that the Argentine was the club's top priority as they plan to build a side ready to compete for the Champions League.

However, Vice-President Adriano Galliani has reacted with surprise to the latest transfer speculation.

"Nobody has ever thought about Pastore," claimed the official. "I don't know why this story has emerged.

However, Vice-President Adriano Galliani has reacted with surprise to the latest transfer speculation.

"Nobody has ever thought about Pastore," claimed the official. "I don't know why this story has emerged.

"Before we start thinking about buying players, we firstly have to deal with the players whose contracts are expiring."

Galliani will hold talks with a variety of individuals in the next few weeks, starting with Clarence Seedorf later today.

Seedorf is not the only Milan veteran whose contract expires next month seeing as Massimo Ambrosini, Alessandro Nesta, Andrea Pirlo and Mark Van Bommel are also coming towards the end of their deals.
