Milan coach Stefano Pioli and certainly the fans are frustrated at the lack of reinforcements, as another defender and a midfielder were meant to come in.

The January window was ultimately very quiet for the Rossoneri, who brought back Matteo Gabbia from his loan at Villarreal and signed Filippo Terracciano from Verona for €4.5m.

That transfer was funded by the sale of Rade Krunic to Fenerbahce.

Pioli had said during the last few weeks that he expected another central defender to bolster the squad during the injury crisis that ruled out Malick Thiaw, Fikayo Tomori and Pierre Kalulu.

According to Telefoot in France, Milan did make a deadline day bid for Brest defender Lilian Brassier that would include Marco Pellegrino as part of the deal.

However, it was rejected and Pellegrini instead went on loan to Salernitana.

There were exits for Luka Romero on loan to UD Almeria and Chaka Traore to Palermo, on loan with an option to buy for circa €10m.
