Atletico Madrid striker Fernando Torres says his expectations were ‘not met’ during his time with Milan.

The Spaniard was welcomed as the Rossoneri's most notable signing last summer, but his inconsistent performances saw him signed permanently and then immediately loaned out to former club Atletico in December in exchange for Alessio Cerci.

Looking back at his Italian experience, Torres recalls being disillusioned.

“Were the struggles down to a physical matter? No,” he considered in an interview with AS released today.

Looking back at his Italian experience, Torres recalls being disillusioned.

“Were the struggles down to a physical matter? No,” he considered in an interview with AS released today.

“I went with expectations and ideas that were not met. I went to Italy to play, to be an important player and I didn't feel like that at any moment.

“I went in and out of the team, one day I played and the next I didn't. It's not what I had agreed from the beginning.

“My relationship with the club was excellent and I have no reproaches.

“But when you see that things are neither going to change nor to improve, you feel uncomfortable.”
