Former Milan captain Franco Baresi admits the Rossoneri deserve their current mid-table Serie A position.

The ex-central defender also expressed his hope that new Coach Clarence Seedorf can turn things around at San Siro and that the team can become more competitive in the near future.

“We know that this year is a one off,” Baresi told reporters today at a promotional event for the club.

“There are lots of factors that have to be taken into account and the team has not been able to express itself well.

“This Milan team deserves to be where it is and the club had to react by changing Coach.

“Seedorf has ideas so we need to wait until he can put them into practice out on the field.

“The team now needs to be prepared for the Champions League where nothing is a given, and they must also finish the season in better shape.

“In the future the club will take action to make the team more competitive.”
