Sampdoria President Riccardo Garrone has asked that Cassano's contract be rescinded after a falling out in late October.

Cassano hasn't played since and his time at the club appears to be over.

La Gazzetta dello Sport understands Milan patron Silvio Berlusconi has told Adriano Galliani to "give me a present" in January, which has been taken to mean Cassano.

In the meantime, they are waiting for the arbitration panel's decision, because if Cassano's contract is rescinded, Sampdoria will still have to sort out the payment of a €5m installment of his transfer from Real Madrid.

Inter appear to be most in need of Cassano, though, and it's rumoured that the player's agent Beppe Bozzo has been working on a deal for months.

Reports claim that there is a mutual desire to see a deal done and Garrone even hinted earlier this month that Massimo Moratti and his people were lurking in the shadow.
