It’s reported both Inter and Milan are interested in signing Real Madrid’s Mateo Kovacic this summer.

The Croatian previously played for the Nerazzurri, but moved to Spain in a €29m deal in the summer of 2016.

According to Tuttosport, Inter tried to bring him back in January, but Los Merengues shut the door on any deal.

However, sporting director Piero Ausilio is still keen to get a deal done and will try again in the summer.

They could face competition from their city rivals though, with the newspaper stating that the Rossoneri are looking for a midfielder with his qualities.

Sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli worked at Inter previously, and is known to be a big admirer of Kovacic.

The issue will be cost, however, as the Diavolo still don’t know what restrictions will be imposed by UEFA through Financial Fair Play.
