Milan underlined that they are still the best side in Italy with a comfortable victory over Catania on Sunday, says Pietro Lo Monaco.

The Rossoneri collected their fifth straight win in Serie A at the weekend thanks to a 4-0 drubbing of Lo Monaco’s Sicilian outfit.

“They are the strongest side in Italy and by some margin,” the director general stated on Monday afternoon.

“They play a consistent brand of football and have some quality individual players,” he continued.

“The road ahead is still very long, but they are starting to emerge as the leading side in the Division again.”

Lo Monaco, who controls Catania’s transfer matters, also commented on reports suggesting that Maxi Lopez could be a Milan target in January.

“I don’t know what the Rossoneri’s market strategy is for the New Year,” the official responded.

“However, Maxi Lopez is a player worthy of a great club and he wouldn’t be a bad swoop at all for Milan.”
