Milan confirmed Sandro Tonali’s Newcastle transfer with brief statements on their official website and Twitter, while Lega Serie A had a message for the Premier League and the Magpies: ‘Take care of him.’

Newcastle and Milan confirmed the deal on Monday with official statements on their websites.

“AC Milan announces the sale of Sandro Tonali to Newcastle United FC,” said the Rossoneri.

“The Club thanks the midfielder for the three splendid years together and wishes him the very best in his professional and personal future.”

Tonali contributed to Milan’s 19th Serie A title in 2021-22, the first one in over a decade for the Rossoneri.

Overall, he played 130 games with the Serie A giants, scoring seven goals.

Milan’s Twitter message for Tonali was also relatively brief.

“It’s been a great ride. All the best, Sandro. It was a wonderful trip together. Your Rossoneri family wishes you the best!” the club said.

Tonali, on the other hand, wrote a long message to his former club and fans on Instagram, suggesting that he’d like to return to San Siro one day.

Lega Serie A reacted to Tonali’s transfer on Twitter with two different posts. In one, they asked the Premier League and Newcastle to ‘take care’ of the 23-year-old.

In the other post, they showed Tonali playing for Brescia and Milan, the only two Serie A clubs of his career so far.
