The San Siro giants are looking for a new forward as cover for Antonio Cassano who is recovering from heart surgery.

Manchester City ace Tevez is the club’s first choice acquisition after his falling out with boss Roberto Mancini.

However, Milan have made it clear that they will only take the Argentine if the Premiership giants agree to release him on a free loan in the New Year.

As City may not agree to that, the reigning Italian champions have already put a Plan B into place with Catania for Lopez.

Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani spoke to Catania director Pietro Lo Monaco last night where a deal was said to have been done.

If the former Barcelona man does move to Milan then he will arrive on loan, with an option to buy outright at the end of the campaign.
