Sinisa Mihajlovic confessed Milan “lost to a Napoli side that is better than us. We don’t defend or attack well. 100 per cent is not enough.”

The Rossoneri were humiliated 4-0 on their own turf, a second consecutive defeat after the 1-0 at Genoa.

“I know it’s bad to say this, but it is the truth: we lost to a Napoli side that is better than us. There’s little more to say than that,” Mihajlovic told Mediaset Premium.

“I know it’s bad to say this, but it is the truth: we lost to a Napoli side that is better than us. There’s little more to say than that,” Mihajlovic told Mediaset Premium.

“The first half was fairly balanced, but you cannot make certain errors in Serie A, especially against strikers of this level.

“I am in debt with (CEO Adriano) Galliani and (President Silvio) Berlusconi and will be for my whole life. I am grateful to them and it disappoints me to get these results. It above all disappoints the players.

“It was a bad defeat, but a fully deserved one. Compliments to Napoli and Maurizio Sarri. After going 2-0 down, we no longer had the strength to react.

“The team that we faced tonight plays the best football in Serie A. They are strong and we knew that. The difference was made by their strikers and our defensive movements.

“We are somewhere in between, so we don’t defend or attack well. During the week we tried lots of different things, but in a match situation it can go differently.

“This is a difficult situation and we have to continue working. Evidently 100 per cent is not enough, we have to give more. We mustn’t lose hope, as whittling down the errors – which for the most part are individual – can change a great deal.”
