Sinisa Mihajlovic is “more combative than ever” as he continues to coach Bologna from a distance during chemotherapy.

The Rossoblu begin their season tonight with a Coppa Italia clash against Pisa, but Mihajlovic will be watching from his hospital bed as he undergoes treatment for leukaemia.

“We hear from him constantly and he’s more combative than ever,” assured assistant manager Emilio De Leo in a Press conference.

“We have always discussed the starting XI anyway, even more so nowadays. Obviously, the final decision is down to him.”

Mihajlovic also viewed all their training sessions and friendly games using live-streaming technology, even giving team talks.

“Bologna are ready and well-prepared, we are getting back into the groove with which we ended last season and want to win every game, taking them one at a time.”
