Sinisa Mihajlovic says Europa League qualification is in his Sampdoria side’s hands as they prepare to face Lazio.

The Blucerchiati currently occupy the sixth and final European place, but are under pressure from Inter and Genoa, and the Serbian calls on the fans to help them tomorrow evening.

“Playing after Inter can be a negative thing if they win,” Mihajlovic considered in his pre-match Press conference.

“However, we can’t make calculations, it’s in our hands. Irrespective of other things, we have to think about ourselves, knowing that we can win if we play the way we can do.

“We’re at the crucial stage of the season, there are only three games to go. Since Inter and Genoa won’t give up, we can’t afford to start making calculations.

“We’re against a team with great motivation, and from this point of view Lazio are the worst team to face.

“We have to give everything if we want to win, but I’m confident because we’re at home, where we’ve only lost once.

“We’ve only lost against Juventus, who are Champions League finalists. We know they [Lazio] are strong, and we’ll have to do more than we did against Udinese.

“We’ll have less chances, but we’ll have to make the most of them.

“They have wingers who are very good one-on-one, and midfielders who know where the goal is, but I’m confident, because this Samp can compete with anyone.

“This isn’t any old game, it’s the game of the year, and I hope that tomorrow the stadium is full and we feel the weight of the Marassi behind us.

“I want a cauldron, I want them to support the team, and then they can whistle at the end of the game if they’re not satisfied.

“But during the game, these lads deserve to be supported for everything they’ve done.”

Mihajlovic was a Lazio hero during his playing days, but says he is not thinking about that ahead of tomorrow’s game.

“It’s always exciting for me when I face Lazio, but for 95 minutes tomorrow I will have neither friends nor memories.

“My record against them with Samp is negative, so I hope to balance that out tomorrow.”
