“Tomorrow the second half of the season begins and I hope it will be one that sees us climb up the table,” said the under-fire Coach in his Press conference.

“A great deal is at stake tomorrow and a win would put us only six points behind Fiorentina. It’s a long campaign still and I think over the last six months the team has improved in every way.

“Despite all the criticism, the squad can certainly improve, but the performances have been there. I’ve never been concerned with what people write about me. I have faith in these lads, the team is united and they never held back.”

Mihajlovic joked about his constant status of hanging by a thread at Milan.

“We have to compliment Fiorentina and Sousa, as they have many talented players and it’ll be a difficult game, so we must make the most of our chances. When we lost against them in Week 1, we were a work in progress, so it’ll be more even now.

“Sousa is certainly an excellent Coach and the results speak for him. So far he’s been better than me and I look like a flop in comparison. Looking at our recent games, we deserved more than the results we achieved, but there’s a long way to go yet.

“If we play like Milan, then we have everything it takes to beat Fiorentina. We must have the concentration levels in defence of a provincial team and be as clinical as champions in attack.

“My rapport with President Silvio Berlusconi is exactly the same, much like the questions you keep asking me about it. I repeat for the one thousandth time that we speak at least once a week, he is always affectionate, kind and respectful of my role.

“I’ve got broad shoulders, every game is treated as a Last Chance Saloon. I’ve seen so many this season I never want to see another bar. I told my lads to plug their ears and get on with playing football. I know it can't be easy to play for three months with people saying the Coach is going to be fired.

“Everyone is trying to give their best, so jeering them will not help. Will Carlos Bacca try another rabona? It’s in his blood, as long as he scores every time then he can try three per game as far as I’m concerned.”
