Fiorentina boss Sinisa Mihajlovic is concentrating on winning the Coppa Italia partly because it offers a way into Europe next season.

Fiorentina boss Sinisa Mihajlovic is concentrating on winning the Coppa Italia partly because it offers a way into Europe next season.

Speaking ahead of today's clash with Reggina, the Serb tactician insists he will not disrespect the competition.

"The Coppa Italia interests me a lot also because if you go all the way it allows you to play in Europe. So no one should snub this competition," Mihajlovic said.

"This game will be an important chance even for the lads who play less. We want to win and go through to the next round also hoping that no one gets injured.

"I don't believe that all these injuries depend on mistakes even if every Coach has his own way of working. From June until now only three players have had muscular problems, the others have suffered trauma-related injuries."

Asked about his philosophy, Mihajlovic said: "I like to line up young players. I don't lack courage. We want to keep Babacar and make him develop with us, therefore he will not leave on loan in January.

"He must also develop in terms of character, but potentially he has everything to become an important player and we believe a lot in him."
