It was announced this evening that after months of negotiations over the collective bargaining contract, the Italian Players' Association (AIC) has decided to go on strike.
The walkout will be on the weekend of December 11 and 12, calling off that Serie A round.
“I am a player and I stand by my co-workers,” said Milan defender and former AIC spokesman Oddo.

“I am a player and I stand by my co-workers,” said Milan defender and former AIC spokesman Oddo.
“If the AIC has decided to go on strike, then it means this time it is inevitable, seeing as our first appeal and threat of a strike was ignored.
“We knew the biggest sticking point was over the players frozen out of their squads. Neither side wanted to find a suitable alternative.”
However, Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) President Petrucci slammed the decision to go on strike.
“The strike called by the AIC is an intimidatory, bullying and arrogant act,” he blasted.
“People who flex their muscles are often showing signs of weakness, so what was announced by the AIC represents how totally out of touch they are with the current climate in Italy and the future of this sport.”
