Sinisa Mihajlovic warned Bologna aren’t safe yet after their comeback to beat Empoli 3-1 and won’t discuss his future until they are.

Nobody in Serie A has picked up more points than Bologna over the last eight rounds – 19 – and this was a crunch relegation dogfight.

“We are not safe yet, but we’re at plus nine – considering we have a superior head-to-head record with Empoli,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“As I told the lads, if we win at Milan next week, then we can say we’re safe in Serie A. Not even I imagined two months ago that we’d achieve this run of results, but now we want to continue like this and catch the teams ahead of us in the table.

“This squad does not belong in the relegation fight and always believed we could do it. Without taking care of the details, it wouldn’t have been possible.

“The key to our success has been that we play to win, we don’t play to avoid defeat.”

Mihajlovic has refused to discuss his future and whether he’ll remain at the Stadio Dall’Ara next season, having come in to replace sacked Pippo Inzaghi.

“I’ve been saying for weeks that my future is the next game and will be until we have succeeded in saving Bologna from relegation. I have respect for Bologna, so I will speak to them before anyone else, then we’ll see. I can guarantee I have not talked to any other club, despite what the newspapers might say.”
