Mihajlovic was not pleased with Mattias Svanberg’s sending off against the Friuli and said his players ‘aren’t thugs’.

Mihajlovic was not pleased with Mattias Svanberg’s sending off against the Friuli and said his players ‘aren’t thugs’.
“The referee needs good psychological management of the match, everyone is good at handing out bookings,” he said at a press conference.
“But you also need to understand the moment. There’s no way that every foul deserves a booking.
“I don’t have thugs in my team, we play football and we don’t complain to the referee.
“All referees should do like Orsato: explain and understand the situations.
“I trust the referees, I know we have good referees, but sometimes certain things don’t suit me and I can’t shut up.
“I try to explain my point of view and I believe that many in our environment share it.”
The Bologna coach felt the Rossoblu had the match in their hands before Svanberg’s sending off.
“There was no match against the Friulians when we were 11 v 11,” he added. “We probably would have won.
“In 10, however, we suffered, and the draw was correct. To be inferior doesn’t just mean defending and quitting to play football.
“We can’t lose sight of our principles.”
Tomorrow, Miha’s men travel to Liguria and face a Genoa side growing in confidence under Davide Ballardini.
“Genoa are a good team, but we aim to win at the Ferraris, I’m very confident,” Mihajlovic continued.
Mattia Destro moved on a free transfer from Bologna to Genoa last summer, having spent six months on loan at the Grifone last season.
The former Bologna forward has scored five goals in 13 games and Mihajlovic admitted he’s happy for the 29-year-old.
“He started scoring again and I’m pleased because he’s a very good lad. He became a dad too, an event that changes your life.
“I have always liked him as a player, but he often got injured in training. It was unlucky.”
