Philippe Mexes has insisted that Milan will fight for the Scudetto next season with the help of Mario Balotelli.

The French centre-back has admitted that the Rossoneri's squad size hindered them last term, but has claimed that with the 'League's best striker' the San Siro side can claim silverware.

“The Scudetto? We are Milan,” he told Sky Sport Italia. “We'll fight for it.

“We did not have the same reinforcements as other teams last season, but we were equally as competitive.

“And we have the best striker in the League – Mario Balotelli.”

The 31-year-old then commented on his future and the potential signing of Matias Silvestre from Inter.

“I just want to work day after day. I have a contract until June 2015, so I'm not worried.

“Silvestre to replace Bonera? Any player will be useful to the cause.”
