Philippe Mexes says he wants to renew his contract with Milan, and reflects on the Derby della Madonnina.

The French defender is out of contract at the end of the season, and as yet has not been offered a deal to remain at San Siro.

“A renewal? I hope so,” Mexes admitted, speaking to reporters at a charity event.

“I live ‘carpe diem’, day-by-day, but for my family it would be important to know where we’re going. That’s the only thing that irritates me slightly.

“As for the rest, I’ll just give my utmost until the end of the season.”

The Rossoneri battled out a 0-0 draw with city rivals Inter in Sunday’s Milan derby, and Mexes admits the result was not ideal.

“The important thing is that we didn’t lose, and we have to look to take as many points as possible in the coming games.

“There’s a bit of disappointment, we could have done better. It’s a shame, you need personality in the derby.

“It’s in the past now, and we must look ahead.”
