Milan chief Adriano Galliani has labelled Lionel Messi as a “monster” ahead of the Champions League tie against Barcelona.

Although the Argentine has never scored from open play against Italian opposition, the goal threat he carries is a concern for the Diavolo.

“Messi is a monster, he scores with amazing continuity,” the official noted. “Hopefully tomorrow he will take a break.”

The Rossoneri will go into the second leg of the last 16 tie with a 2-0 advantage.

“I expected a very warm atmosphere, with 100,000 people at the Camp Nou,” Galliani added. “It will be difficult, because we are up against the best in the world.”

Milan do have problems in attack as Mario Balotelli is Cup-tied and Giampaolo Pazzini is missing with injury.

“Pazzini’s absence is a shame for us, because he was in a magical moment of form,” the former Lega Calcio chief added.

“It was a great time for him and this injury keeps him out. We lose an important striker, but we have the substitutes to do well.”
