Napoli forward Dries Martens calls Amin Younes “a great signing”, even if “I’m not sure if it’s 100 per cent yet”.

The Ajax winger is expected to join the Partenopei in the coming days for a fee of around €5m, having already agreed to join them in the summer.

Reports suggest he’ll have his medicals in the next 48 hours and be in the stands for the match against Bologna on Sunday afternoon.

“He’s a very strong player, he takes on his man and beats him,” Mertens said on Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.

“I’m not sure if it’s 100 per cent yet, but he’s a great signing for Napoli.”

Napoli remain top of Serie A, a point ahead of Juventus, and the Belgian international also spoke about the season so far, starting with Sunday’s win over Atalanta.

“It’s always difficult after the winter break, when you go away you can forget some things about your game, but we’re very used to our style.

“Atalanta have always caused us problems so it was really nice and very important to win in Bergamo.

“We’re more mature, we’ve been playing together for a long time and we’ve grown, with the same Coach [Maurizio Sarri] and the same players.

“We’re not just 11 starters, but we’re all united including the bench players. We have a dream, and we know what we need to do.

“It was important for the whole team and for the fans to win in Bergamo, we were fired-up before the match and we succeeded.

“Bologna? It will be a match like any other, the team is training and giving everything. We’re doing our best to win again on Sunday.

“We’ve definitely entered the most important phase of the season, it will start on Sunday. We can’t look too far ahead, we just have to continue like this as a team.

“Is it between ourselves and Juventus? We know Lazio are doing really well, but so are the others. It won’t be easy, but we’re just thinking about ourselves so lets think about Sunday now and get three points.

“The Europa League? We want to do well in this competition too, which we take very seriously.”

Mertens was then asked what they’d do if they do win the Scudetto.

“We’d organise a big party for the whole city, five days of celebration.”
