Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret has insisted that ‘I don’t feel inferior’ to Italy rival and fellow young gun Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Meret and Donnarumma are considered Italy’s two goalkeepers of the future, but the Napoli shot-stopper is two years older and has been held back by injuries, while the Milan glovesman recently celebrated his 150th appearance for the club.

Nonetheless, the 21-year-old said at a Press conference for Thursday’s Europa League last-32 second leg against FC Zurich: “I’ve learned a lot from my teammates.
“This rotation in goal is good for everyone. We have to work, I’m young and I still have a long way to go.
“I always try to make myself ready, without feeling the pressure from outside. I certainly have to improve with the ball at my feet and be braver when bringing the ball out.
“I still lack the ability to choose the right type of clearance, but these aspects are only improved with work in training and I’m giving my best to grow every day.
“Gigio has been playing in Serie A for 3-4 years, but technically I don’t feel inferior to him.
“I’ll always do my best to convince the Coaches to pick me. The important thing is to work hard and the results will come.
“I was struck by the weather down south. I’m used to the north, but here it’s fantastic. I never suffer from the cold and I eat very well.
“Furthermore, the club are cohesive and the group is united. Respect is crucial to us achieving important objectives and everyone respects each other here.”
