The Chile international has been the subject of negotiations between the Nerazzurri and Cardiff City for a number of weeks, with valuation and method of payment seen as major issues in talks.

However, reports from the weekend are that a deal is close to being agreed and expectancy in Italy is that the midfielder will finalise a transfer by the middle of this week.

It is understood that a fee close to €9m has been agreed, with €1m of that a bonus linked to Champions League qualification during the next four years and the rest due to paid in instalments starting at €3m.

Medel has reportedly agreed to help facilitate the move by agreeing to an initial drop in wage demands for the first year of his prospective contract.

The 27-year-old is reportedly open to a €1.6m-plus-bonuses deal for his first season with Inter, followed by an automatic raise to €1.9m from year two.
