Weston McKennie’s father, John, urges Massimiliano Allegri to play his son in central midfield and Timothy Weah on the right wing but clarifies that he ‘would never wish anyone to be fired.’

USMNT international McKennie has made seven appearances with the Old Lady so far this season but has always been deployed as a right wing-back in a 3-5-2 system.

His compatriot Tim Weah was expected to be Juventus‘ regular starter on the right flank, but McKennie has taken his starting spot in the opening stages of the campaign.

McKennie’s father, John, seemed unhappy with Allegri’s decisions and shared a post on X where a Juventus fan account asked its followers whether the coach should be fired at the end of the season.

“Put Mckennie in the midfield! Weah on the wing,” replied McKennie’s father.

“They have proven they play well together in their perspective positions!”

His post was retweeted more than 100 times, so McKennie’s father had to clarify his position with a new post.

“I have my own opinions, but would never wish anyone to be fired,” he said.

“At the end of the day, the coach has a plan. We don’t have to like it! I am also a fan, but he’s the COACH! Let’s not take my words out of context!”

Weston McKennie has recently made his 100th appearance with Juventus. During his latest interview, he explained why his Champions League goal against Barcelona in 2020 was a ‘full circle moment’ for him.

McKennie spent six months on loan at Leeds United in 2022-23 and returned to Turin last summer.
