Roma legend and former Coach Carlo Mazzone says he “know how it feels” to be Claudio Ranieri right now.
Ranieri resigned from his hometown club this evening after a fourth consecutive defeat in all competition, falling 4-3 at Genoa despite leading 3-0.
He took over from Luciano Spalletti on September 2, 2009 and almost won the Scudetto in his first season, missing out on the last day to Inter.

“I am sad for Ranieri, because I know how it feels to be there right now and how much he is suffering,” said former Giallorossi tactician Mazzone.
“It's a doomed year and so the Coach pays the price, as is always the case when a team loses.”
There has been constant speculation of trouble in the locker room, especially with Francesco Totti, Mirko Vucinic and David Pizarro.
“I don't think the players got rid of their Coach. It doesn't happen for a player to go on the field and play to upset their tactician. Only those who don't know football can think that.
“Today's result was amazing, but that doesn't mean they were playing to lose. Otherwise they wouldn't have gone 3-0 up.
“The players who moaned and caused controversy with Ranieri didn't just do it with him. They've got previous at this sort of thing,” continued Mazzone.
Possible replacements include Vincenzo Montella, ex-Perugia boss Serse Cosmi and even Mazzone himself.
“I won't talk about a possible replacement, as that's not up to me. I don't know who would be prepared to take over at Roma at this stage of the season. Me? I'm an ex-Coach, now retired.”
