Walter Mazzarri confirms an injury crisis at Inter as they prepare to visit Udinese on Sunday. “This will be a difficult game.”

“We know this will certainly be a difficult game,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“In my view Udinese have a great tactician who is good at working with both young players and veterans. He gives an identity to his team and they are very strong on home turf.”

The Friulani had been unbeaten at home in Serie A for 22 games before last week’s surprise 1-0 defeat to Roma.

Hugo Campagnaro misses out again, while Samir Handanovic and Mauro Icardi are still major doubts to feature.

“It’s an emergency situation in attack, so I’ll have to call a striker from the Primavera youth team anyway. I will evaluate Handanovic and Icardi after today’s training sessions, while I need to speak to Walter Samuel to see how he’s feeling.

“We are missing some points, definitely, and dropped a few by the wayside due to moments of naiveté. We made mistakes against Atalanta that should’ve been avoided and also lacked a little cynicism, which is normal in such a young side.

“I am absolutely not worried, though. This is Year Zero for Inter and we are focused only on how we are playing, not in a race with the other teams. I think the fans are happy with the quality of football. Vincenzo Montella said after Fiorentina’s defeat to Napoli that he is convinced they’re on the right track and I say the same of Inter.

“I want the side to grow, game after game, to eliminate mistakes made in the past. We’ve conceded a lot recently, but I’d be happy to win every match 4-3. We’re proud to be one of the most prolific sides in Serie A and scored with 10 different players.

“I tell the lads not to even celebrate when they score, as straight away the opposition pours forward to seek an equaliser. We’ve got to keep hammering them so there’s no reaction.”

Mazzarri was also asked about Massimo Moratti selling 70 per cent of the club to Erick Thohir.

“It is unusual for a Coach to go through a season while the club changes hands, but in the locker room we haven’t even noticed. The team was never distracted.

“I am very pleased that Moratti is always with us. We spoke yesterday and I’m glad he exchanges opinions with me.”
