Claudio Bellucci has backed his former Coach Walter Mazzarri, but admits the signs at Inter do not look good.

The 53-year-old has fallen under early-season scrutiny for consecutive League defeats suffered to Cagliari and Fiorentina.

However, for one of his former players from his time at Sampdoria, Mazzarri is going to be doing all that he can to improve the situation.

“He is the first to suffer in a situation like this,” Bellucci has told Gianluca Di Marzio’s website today.

“I know him well, I know how meticulous Mazzarri is, how much he works and how much he cares about his team.

“He thinks of his players and how to get the most out of them 24 hours a day. He is a lion in a cage, it is sad to see him like this.

“Like what? As he was on Sunday in Florence. He was sitting on the bench, with an ironic smile whilst his team, as they did against Cagliari, played with little motivation.

“With him I have always had a great time and when we went into the field our opponents did exactly as we had prepared for in the week. He was not wrong a lot.

“I know he would never resign, but it is strange that Inter are not always in the same way. At Napoli it was enough to make one change and the game would take a turn.

“I remember Insigne, when he entered in the second half, he was frenzied. Those that came in always did better than those that came off, but at Inter this does not happen. I hope that he is able to change things quickly.”
