Walter Mazzarri insists his time at Inter was ‘positive’ as he prepares to face his former club with Torino.
The 56-year-old succeeded Andrea Stramaccioni in the San Siro dugout in the summer of 2013 and guided the Nerazzurri to a fifth place Serie A finish in his only full season in charge.
However, he was then sacked in November 2014 after a series of poor results left the club in ninth.
Speaking ahead of his current club’s meeting with Inter, Mazzarri expressed his belief that he did well with the resources at his disposal.

However, he was then sacked in November 2014 after a series of poor results left the club in ninth.
Speaking ahead of his current club’s meeting with Inter, Mazzarri expressed his belief that he did well with the resources at his disposal.
“It was a positive experience, particularly when you look at the statistics,” the ex-Napoli and Watford boss commented.
“Coaches are assessed based on how good the team they have is and the time there was good.
“After many years in Serie A, it was my first sacking and that was something that bothered me.”
Toro have won their last two matches, against Cagliari and Crotone, but Mazzarri warns his side will have to do better to compete with Luciano Spalletti’s Inter.
“We will probably have a much tougher test than the last two matches, where we did well.
“We have to improve, given that Inter are a team of high quality. It will be difficult and the numbers speak clearly.”
Toro are currently 10th in the table, eight points shy of Europa League qualification but with a game in hand on those above them.
However, Mazzarri thinks his team are still a work in progress.
“We are a work in progress and I have had to make some changes because we have had some problems.
“It’s a very important match and I want to see whether the boys can do as they have against Cagliari and Crotone in terms of the way we play, our concentration and attitude.”
