Fabio Pecchia insists he will not resign as Verona Coach ahead of today’s critical home match with Cagliari.

The Scaligeri have lost their last three matches, failing to score and conceding 11 times in the process, including a 3-0 thrashing at bottom club Benevento in midweek.

Recent poor results have left the Bentegodi side in danger of being cut adrift in the race for Serie A survival – and Pecchia's future as boss appears to be in doubt once more.

Recent poor results have left the Bentegodi side in danger of being cut adrift in the race for Serie A survival – and Pecchia's future as boss appears to be in doubt once more.

Corriere di Verona report the tactician will lose his job with a poor result and performance this afternoon, but the meeting with the Sardi also represents an opportunity for Verona to claw back ground on a direct relegation rival.

“My only thought is to win the match,” Pecchia told a Press conference. “That is the important thing.

“That’s all I’m thinking about, the other things don’t interest me.

“My resignation? I have never thought about that. I am thinking about continuing to work.

“In September, people said we were going down. But we are still there in the fight.

“That is how it is, we are a newly-promoted team. Teams who have been in Serie A for years are also suffering.”
