Walter Mazzarri is “proud of Torino” after their narrow Derby della Mole defeat to Juventus, “but from now on they must see Bianconeri jerseys on every opponent.”

The Granata put in one of their best performances of the season, but were still beaten 1-0 by Matthijs de Ligt on the knockdown from a corner.

With six defeats in the first 11 games, this is their worst start to a Serie A campaign since their relegation in 2008-09.

“I am angry because I don’t like losing, especially when we didn’t deserve it,” said the coach in his press conference.

“At the end of the game, I told the lads that I am proud of what they did tonight, but that from now on they must play every match with the same grit and hunger.

“The real step up in quality now must be seeing Bianconeri jerseys on every opponent they face. If they keep that attitude, I am sure the points will start flooding in.”

Their best chances came on short corners, so Mazzarri was asked about those routines.

“We had some things prepared, but unfortunately we didn’t do them properly. I don’t want to say too much, because we might try them again in future, but we didn’t make the most of the spaces that we did open up in the Juve defence.”
