Catania striker Maxi Lopez reacts to rumours he’ll join Milan in January. “If the Rossoneri want me, then I’m ready.”

A new forward is needed during the transfer window after Antonio Cassano was ruled out for six months by surgery to correct a congenital heart defect, having suffered a mini-stroke last Saturday.

Maxi Lopez has been the most repeatedly mentioned name in the list of options and confessed he was interested.

“I have only recently become aware of these rumours, but I don’t know anything more than that,” the Argentine told Calciomercato.it.

“Milan are a great club, so it’s only natural I’d like to play for them, but I have to talk to Catania and my agent. We’ll see what happens in January.

“I am certainly ready for another experience with a top club after Barcelona. I already know Mark Van Bommel and Gianluca Zambrotta, so I’d be happy to work with them again.

“How likely am I to join Milan? It’s too early to say, you’d have to ask the clubs.”
