Blaise Matuidi believes “I’ve grown” at Juventus, and hopes to meet Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League “as late as possible”.

The Bianconeri have secured their place in the Last 16 of the competition, and will win the group if they beat Young Boys in Switzerland next time out.

“I think we’ve had good results in the Champions League,” Matuidi told Sky.

“We’ve had some good matches and the only moment of collapse was against Manchester United at home.

“I think we’ve had good results in the Champions League,” Matuidi told Sky.

“We’ve had some good matches and the only moment of collapse was against Manchester United at home.

“We’ve done what we had to do and qualified, but now we want to finish first in the group. We need to take things one game at a time.

“Of course we’re confident, but it’s important to see what happens in the other game, while we’re focused on Young Boys to finish top of this group.

“After that we’ll see what happens, let’s say we’re ambitious but we have to take it one stage at a time.

“This is my best season, between club trophies and the World Cup, which was my dream. I’ve grown in Turin, when I arrived I realised I could do more.

“I have so many friends at PSG, so it’d be nice to face them, but as late as possible.

“That’s the future though, from December we have more complicated matches, starting with the trip to Florence on Saturday.”

Matuidi was also asked about Cristiano Ronaldo, who is likely to miss out on the Ballon d’Or to his former teammate Luka Modric.

“Ronaldo deserves the Ballon d’Or. He has an incredible hunger and that’s what makes the difference.”
