Chievo’s Federico Mattiello says he ‘doesn’t want to be remembered for an injury’ after recovering from a leg break.

The 20-year-old’s season was cut short last year when he fractured his tibia in a league match against Roma in March.

He marked his return to fitness at the weekend with an assist in the Gialloblu’s 3-2 defeat to Genoa, but is determined to move past his horror injury.

“I’m happy to be back full time, and to have given the assist for Pellissier’s goal, it meant a lot to me,” the right-back told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Now though, I want someone to talk about me because I’m showing that I’m a good player.

“I don’t want to be remembered only for that serious injury against Roma.

“I can and must improve, but to have played the entire match is already a big step forward.”
