Alessandro Matri isn’t looking for anyone but himself to blame for difficulties at Milan, as he states his desire to start afresh with Fiorentina.

The striker has ended a miserable six months at San Siro, which yielded just one goal from 18 appearances, to move to La Viola on an initial loan deal to the end of the season.

“I thank Milan for having given me the opportunity to come here. And of course the Della Valle family, who have made an effort to get me here for the next few months,” Matri considered to reporters today.

“I have made an important decision. If I have left Milan then it is because I have a great desire to return to the highest level.

“I need to disconnect and start again without thinking. This is a great opportunity and I have jumped at it.

“The six months in Milan? I have always been self critical and perhaps the fault was mine. I am grateful to Milan for the time there, the six months were special.

“There was a desire to start again, but due to problems of acclimatisation in the field, I personally could not reach my best in the field. Now I look for a bit more continuity to return to the highest level.

“What didn’t work? The responsibilities regarding my performance are taken by me. Perhaps the feeling is that I did not have a very good start.

“The fans did not agree with the purchase of a new striker, for that they did not take to me very well. My past with Juve has nothing to do with it.

“Seedorf? When things go wrong it is the Coach that always pays, but the blame is to be shared by the players and the club.

“I do not know Seedorf as a Coach, there is curiosity from everyone. Allegri? I spoke to him before choosing Fiorentina. He gave me his thoughts and then I made my decision. He told me that I just had to do what I felt.”
