“My goals don't matter much if the results, like tonight, don't come,” shrugged the former Cagliari striker.
“Some of it is our fault, then bad luck has its effect too. There is personal satisfaction with the goals, of course, but now that I am in a big club I want to achieve larger objectives too.
“Right now the important thing is to take it one game at a time. There's no point talking about fourth place or anything else.”
Coach Gigi Del Neri said he liked the performance, but Matri felt otherwise.
“We are not satisfied at throwing away a 2-0 lead, but it's also true that playing the way we did after Motta's red card we can get some good results. Basically, there are positive signs.”
Both Matri's goals were set up for him by Alessandro Del Piero, who was given a rare start.
“I got on very well with Alex, as we combine in a strong way. The same is true of Luca Toni and Vincenzo Iaquinta.”
