Alessandro Matri has admitted that he is at ‘peace’ since leaving Milan and joining Fiorentina last month.

The striker, who failed to set the world alight at San Siro, signed a six-month loan with the Viola in January.

And the former Juventus man has conceded that he is enjoying life with the Tuscan side.

“I was in a tunnel at Milan,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport. “I wanted to do more there, but I failed.

“I take all the responsibility for that. But I was doing it internally when I was there.

“[Coach Vincenzo] Montella has given me the one thing that I needed – peace of mind.

“I suffered with a lack of confidence, but I came here and scored straight away which made me feel a lot better.”
