Enrico Preziosi is satisfied with bringing in Alessandro Matri and Alberto Gilardino, and confirms Daniele Portanova isn’t in Genoa’s plans.

The Grifone are wrapping up a deal to take Matri on loan for next season from Milan in the same week that Gilardino confirmed and then closed his move out to China’s Guangzhou Evergrande.

For Genoa’s President, the moves have produced a satisfactory resolution.

“We knew that Gilardino could leave, we have achieved a good operation in finding his replacement,” Preziosi has told Telenord this week, before reflecting on the club’s transfer focus.

“No-one is not for sale, particularly when from the economic point of view we have had to return to restoring the car on track.

“Now the salaries in place for the players are more adequate to revenues and budget that we have.

“On the market we now await chances, we will remain vigilant.

“Our League is now the left-hand-side of the table [top 10]. A few years ago that was so boring…”

Meanwhile Preziosi also spoke to Il Secolo XIX and confirmed reports that club captain Daniele Portanova is not in Coach Gian Piero Gasperini’s plans.

“Portanova is no longer a part of our technical project. If he wants to stay, we will have great respect for him, but from a sporting point of view we have other ideas.

“In any case, the captain will be Antonelli.”
