Marco Materazzi insists Samuel Eto'o won't return to Inter on loan, but the ex-defender is “waiting for a call.”

There were reports over the last few days that Anzhi star Eto'o would use the Russian winter break to play for the Nerazzurri in January and February.

“Samuel is in love with Inter, but I don't think this return is viable. He is very happy in Russia,” Materazzi told Sky Sport Italia.

“Naturally, as an Inter fan I hope he can return and score many more goals for the Nerazzurri. Inter are not going through a positive time and a player like Samuel would certainly be useful.

“I doubt the Russians want to let him go, even if their League is on a break.”

Materazzi terminated his contract with Inter a year early when it became clear he wouldn't get much playing time, but could come back in another guise.

“Of course my return is more than a mere possibility, but I will only come back when I am asked.

“I have a fantastic rapport with President Massimo Moratti and don't need to disturb him. I am patiently waiting for a call.”

It is widely reported Matrix could take over as an assistant to Coach Claudio Ranieri or as a director.
