The Partenopei were beaten 2-1 at the San Paolo this evening, as Giuseppe Mascara's temporary equaliser was wiped out by Massimo Gobbi and Francesco Modesto.
“Parma played their game by defending and then going on the counter whenever we made a mistake,” he told Sky Sport Italia.
“It all went their way too, as we saw with the double save and Edinson Cavani hitting the upright that it wasn't our night. We still should've been more focused, though.
“This is football and we've got to push forward trying to be sharper in attack. When an opponent defends with six men and Sergio Floccari pushes you as hard as any defender, it's not easy to create chances.
“It's also true that Ezequiel Lavezzi tends to dribble a bit too much rather than going for goal. It's his personality and perhaps a sign he still needs to complete his maturation.”
In their 3-0 win away to Inter, Napoli had the benefit of some dubious refereeing decisions, but Mazzarri was critical of the official this time round.
“What irritated me was the referee didn't book enough players, whereas he ought to support the team that is trying to play football and not just block off the opponents.
“I think there was a penalty on Lavezzi, but the referee didn't give it and to me that is equal to a mistake my players made in front of goal. Certain errors do weigh on the game, but in the end they all even out.”
It is more likely Napoli were distracted by the upcoming Champions League test with Bayern Munich.
“We will only think about Bayern tomorrow, after having digested this defeat.”
