Former Inter and Azzurri defender Marco Materazzi has admitted that ‘sportingly’ he ‘hates’ Juventus and is relieved that the Bianconeri have not yet won the treble.

Speaking to Italian Football TV, Materazzi confessed that ‘it would have been bad’ if Juve had won either of the last two Champions League finals they have featured in.

During the podcast, the 49-year-old spoke of his life-long admiration for Inter, who he represented for 10 seasons after the turn of the century, and confessed that he was relieved that Juventus have not yet won the treble.

“I respect them as a club, but sportingly I hate Juventus,” he said. “I was there in Cardiff and Berlin when they lost [in the Champions League finals]. My heart was pounding , if they had won, it would have been bad.”

Inter remain the only Italian club to have won the Scudetto, Coppa Italia and Champions League all within one season under Jose Mourinho in 2009-10.

During the interview, Materazzi also detailed how highly he respects Mourinho and revealed what he said to his former coach during a tearful goodbye after the Champions League final at the Santiago Bernabeu in 2010.

He joked: “I told him ‘f**k you’, because he was leaving me with Benitez.”
