Instead, the 25-year-old is heading to a different newly-promoted club, Serie A debutants Carpi.
He’s likely to be joined by Cerri, a 19-year-old striker who was a star in the Parma youth team.
As with all Parma players, Cerri is now a free agent following the club’s bankruptcy.
